Well my surgery went great. I'm still here to talk about it so I guess that's good. I thought I was getting my tonsils and adenoids removed, but I was corrected while waiting. The Dr. said that I didn't have any adenoids that they had disappeared and it was common for a person of almost 30 (I have 3 years left before then) to not have any adenoids. They did a resection of my lower submucous turbinates (basically they hollowed out my nostrils so I can breathe). Which I read in an article that enlarged turbinates can be cause by severe allergies. If you know me I've had allergies my whole life so it's all starting to make sense. So I got a free nose job, woot! They also removed my tonsils and that was the main reason I went to see them in the first place. My tonsils have bugged me for a number of years and I am so glad they're finally out.
I've been on Lortab every 4 hours and no solid foods pretty much for the next 2 weeks. I have been able to eat vanilla ice cream, lime jello, chocolate pudding, and some thinned out lukewarm mashed potatoes and gravy. I've been drinking a lot of juice and water. As well as taking antibiotics so I don't get an infection while my immune system is down right now. I went into the surgery center at 1130 am on Saturday Oct. 17, 2004 and I ended up not getting in for surgery until 130 pm. But I was out by 230pm and home on my own couch at 430pm cause we had to go drop off my prescriptions. I had to spend 2 nights on the couch sleeping upright with a gauze sling on my nose so it didn't drip. I'm trying to sleep in my own bed tonight because Malachi wasn't going to sleep on his own. So he's asleep next to me and I just took another dose of Lortab before I'm going back to sleep. I've already been able to breathe much better, but I still can't breathe out of my nose. My tongue is swollen and my upper lip was and is still a little bit swollen. I was finally able to brush my teeth today and it felt soo good. I told my Mom it's amazing how just brushing your teeth can make you feel like a new person.
I took pictures of me with the nose sling, and of me when we got home and such but I'll have to add them later. I'm so excited to heal and be able to breathe better and sleep better at night. I can already tell that my energy level is coming back up. I didn't realize how much my tonsils being huge was depleting my energy. I'm thankful to have made it through surgery ok and that the Dr.'s and Anesthesiologist were able to do their jobs to the best of their abilities. The nurses were all very kind and helpful making sure that I was warm and taken care of with magazines and I felt very safe in their care.
I would like to take a moment to thank my Mom for coming to help take care of me and watch Malachi while I recover. She even ran all over town to find my favorite popsicles. I know Malachi has given her a run for the money with his energy and constant need of care. I'm thankful that she was able to take the time off from work to come help me. I know without a doubt I couldn't have made this work without her here. Thanks Mom for cleaning my house and watching Malachi so I could recover. I love you sooo much.
Thank you everyone for the well wishes and the prayers. I am so thankful for supportive friends and family. I couldn't make it without you.

So glad everything went well and you're feeling better! Sorry for being a little out of the loop. I haven't really looked at anyone's blogs since I got home from my trip. That's really great that your mom was able to come help. Moms are lifesavers!
