Deployment

Well Sean left this morning. We had to take him to the armory at 4 am. The last things he said to me were, "I love you and I'll be back in a year."
I'm going to be praying every day that he comes back to us safely. I haven't really cried about it yet, but I think when they leave the states and go overseas it's going to hit me. For our last family meal together we had black bean and rice burritos with homemade guacamole. I love when Sean cooks for us. I don't know what we'll do without our gourmet chef for a year. Poor Malachi is going to be stuck with lots of casseroles.
Sean's going away ceremony was yesterday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Malachi wouldn't sit through the whole thing so we spend a lot of time out in the hall, but I got some good pictures of the unit marching into the stadium. I'll add them as soon as I can get a disk made at Walmart. Afterwards they had all the families come down for refreshments. Malachi isn't really one for crowds and he was screaming the whole time.
It was nice to see all the support that these guys are going to have while they're gone.
I've been collecting and washing Sean's clothes all week. I never realized just how many t-shirts he's collected from events. I guess it's kind of been like his hobby for the past few years. He practically lives in free t-shirts. He was only allowed to take one civilian clothes outfit so I have to put everything else in a box in the closet. I've been thinking about making a pillow out of one of his favorite shirts that doesn't fit anymore...so Malachi will have something to sleep with.
I'm hoping that this next year goes by quickly so we can have Sean home soon.
I miss him already.

Aw, lots of sympathy and good wishes coming from Germany! Hopefully the next year will go by quickly.

Loved the casserole comment, by the way. :)
